Morpheus / The Sandman

Part of a series I did for MORBID OUTLOOK on various gods of my choosing. This one has a special story: Originally this was a pen and ink piece I did quite awhile back, as part of a Tarot deck I was designing. A year later, Neil Gaiman’s / DC Vertigo’s comic THE SANDMAN came out! The coincidence was not lost on me, nor on Neil! Yes, I actually got to show him the piece and explain the circumstances. To which he delightedly responded by telling me of the “Steam Engine Theory” (e-mail me for details if you like) and signed the original, which I just had to drop into the digital version!
